All About Pocket Knives

Heres an older Robeson I picked up today, he was out of Remingtons. It is stamped Robeson over Shuredge over Rochester. The # is 823248. The shield says Pocketeze, and there appears to be some red paint between the letters. Both blades are full and may have been polished a little bit a long time ago.Its 3 1/8" long. It has black compostion type handles. Anyone have any idea as far as a value.

sorry, none of my books list that pattern. the stamp is probably (maybe) 1901-1941.

I have a book that says Pocketeze is a trademark registered in 1914 meaning that the bladebacks were recessed below the knife handles, reducing the wear on the pants pockets.
Also the same book lists a 3" dogleg jack with Black Pyraline handles at 110.00 for a mint price knife.
Don't know if that helps but does explain the pocketeze trademark, looks like a nice knife to me.

I wish I had an answer for you on what it is worth, it looks to be in great condition. Robeson's are pretty hard to pin down a value number on.

Very good info. I had read about the Robesons before but never really studied about them. I'm impressed with the fit and finish of this little fellow, it even has worked liners. Its a good quality knife. I got this one for $35, which I thought was a pretty good buy, considering the age, and condition. Both blades have excellent snap and solid half stops. I don't plan on changing my user id to Robeson collector any time soon, but I may start to pick a few nice ones up to store away.

I sold one of these on eBay a couple of years ago, even remember who it went to. High Bid was $47 bucks. It was a nice knife and felt good in my hand, that is one of the reasons I remember. Looks to be same shape as yours. Nice knives, more Folks I know like the ShurEdge in script on the tang, it makes a difference to some.
