All About Pocket Knives

The knife I sent to Colin has arrived home. I sent it out with broken celluloid handles and Colin turned it into this masterpiece. As he said to me in an email, "Your knife is as near perfect as I've ever done." I belive he is 100% accurate. One side has my initials on it, the other side has a Bull Elephant with 2 birds that represent my son and I. My son has the same initials as I do. I hope my pictures start to do justice to Colin's work. It is outstanding!

Here are a couple of pictures of the filework and Colin signed my blade also. I got so mesmerized by the scrimshaw that I forgot to include the great file work he did. I am one HAPPY KNIFER!

Thanks 4ever3, I think Colin did a great job. He is quite an artist and can do virtually all phases of knife making, including scrimshaw, which sets him apart from the rest.
I would give a couple words of advice when working with any custom knife maker; don't tie him down with too many details, give him the "artistic license" to do as he feels is right without having to check in. Just give a general description of what you want and get some pictures of what the finished knife should look like.
Colin and I agreed to work off the existing blade etch and put my initials on the other side, get rid of that big bowtie shield, thats where my initials will go. Do what you feel is right with the bolsters after all the work is done. That was all the instructions we had and he had the "artistic license" to do what feels right. Don't keep calling every week to find out how it's going, in general you will be contacted when something is finished.
Colin told me he had fun doing this and felt very comfortable and relaxed, no pressure. I believe that by doing these things you will end up with a far better knife and will have a good working relationship with your knife maker. The results will speak for themselves.

I dont know how it could be any better Hukk, it is very very nice I am on the Pass Around with the Russlock that Colin did...I caint wait to get it in my hands

You're welcome Colin! It is a great knife to photograph so it just makes the photographer look good! You did a mighty fine job on this knife, no doubt about! I look forward to when we can do another one.
