Most collectors can spend a lifetime searching for a particular knife for their collection.

What some call "The Holy Grail".

I have several I would like to find, but I guess an original stag handle Scagel folder would be my Holy Grail knife.

What knife are you searching for??

I'd have to say that finishing off my set of Exotic Handle Prototype 83 model Whittlers from the Case Classic line is at the end of my rainbow. I have several, but as time passes they just get more expensive and harder to find.

Oh Boy only one knife I can't do that!!! So I am going to list my holy grails list.

I'm a Case Classic collector like Bob and the one knife that has eluded me for many years is a stag "95" toothpick ( 51095 ).
This is the only production Case Classic stag that I do not own ..... doesn't sound like much but when you only need one knife to complete a collection .... well, you all know what I'm talking about.

My pick would be a Remington Boy Scout knife, the "Remington Award For Heroism" knife which was only made c.1924-1926, and was only given to those Boy Scouts who earned the Honor Medal for heroism. It is like the RS3333 but has a second shield indicating what it is. It's about the rarest Boy Scout knife I know of.

I don't think I have a "Holy Grail" knife yet. I do have a few "lesser treasures" that I want to own, but haven't scraped up enough quarters for yet:

Boker pattern 182 Campers Knife, w/ stag or chestnut handles
Boker pattern 1000 "Fellow", in natural bone and red jigged bone
Boker pattern 9293 Fish Knife, any handle material
Boker "Corn Knife" (fer yer feet)
Case Hobo, in Amber bone or Abalone

So if'n anybody has one of these just layin' around ...

I'd take a Remington R4466, baby bullet in stag, mint condition with an etch. I'd say that would be a $10,000 knife in that condition. I'm having a hard time even finding a worn example. I have at least 1 example of 12 bullets out of the 13. The 4466 is the one I don't have.

I think mind would be a case xx 1940-1964

When I thought of "Holy Grail" and Knife this came to mind along with Excalibur. But seriously, finding a nice Cattaraugus Yukon would be a Holy Grail knife for me.

Yes they are Holy Grails. Sweet knives, I didn't know for sure but I suspected that these were big $ knives. Those guys are fine pieces of cutlerly. Just (4) years ago they could have been yours, we never know sometimes when to pull the trigger.

However, They are unique enough that I'll bet the next time the shot will go off before you get the gun out of the holster....

I actually had a chance at my holy grail one time. Had a bid of 1600 bucks and i believe it sold for 2500. Still wish i could have bid more, But the ole ball and chain started yanking on my choke collar. Trust me it is hard to type when you don't have oxygen going to your brain. Or is it blood flow to my N*TS. It was probalbly both. Anyway i will keep searching and good luck to all of you. Hopefully when your time comes. Your pockets run deep enough.

The Black Liped Pearl one caught my eye. Very exceptional knives!

Now I won't put this thing on a pedestal, but this cheap a** Imperial 883 has eluded me for years!
Are they such a good knife that no one is willing to even show one!
Or were they so bad that the hardware clerk took them all before anyone could see um, and through them in the river?
At this point I would pay for a picture of it!

I remember this before, and I will try to help you in your quest. I have a jack knife that fits in that set, and I have no idea where I got it, I have had it since I was maybe 10 years old.

It might be the reason that I am an Imperial fan, I have a few imperials non - shell and a couple shell that I really cherish.

If I had to pick just one knife I consider the Holy Grail of knives it would have to be a Henry Frank folder(ANY Frank folder);preferably with his spectacular engraving and gold bolsters with pearl scales.I had the chance to hold one of his masterpieces at a knife show back in the 1980's and if I had the $3,000 the guy wanted for it the knife would be mine today.
For those not familiar with Mr.Frank,he hailed from Whitefish MT and was probably one of the first knifemakers who,"did it all".IIRC if you wanted to order a folder by him,there was a wait of about 10-12 years!I don't know if he is still alive or not but you have to see his work to fully appreciate it.Remember a set of 6 custom folders he made that sold for $60,000 and that was over 20 years ago!

See, sound good already eh?

Problem is, I have a heap of nice knives (which all look a bit redundant now) and a long list of knives I’d like to buy. It is now tricky justifying the buys with this Queen about the place. Worse, it is tricky justifying the heap of nice knives I already have too :C

If you want to keep amassing cutlery, Grails are bad idea – in case you find the damned things

In some senses I already hate that Queen, even thought it is the one I have been looking for :D:D
