Thank you for placing that. I did not know this and was thinking about getting one. Every where I went it would not say where it was made.
Now I have changed my mind.

Here is one site that has me puzzled. Are all of these made in China now ??

Most of Fight'n Rooster knives were/are made in Germany.

Frank took handle materials and older patterns, had them made in low numbered runs, like one of 600, and had high quality knives made. He brought back a lot of the old knife handles & patterns that were not made any more.

Fight'n Rooster knives are High Quality. Buy one or several. Any of the Pearl one's are special in my book.

None were made in in China!

*It appears to me that US Classics are doing the same thing, in a way. Copying old designs, making them in numbered runs (one of 1200), but having them made in China at a cheaper cost. And of course a cheaper product.

The thought has occurred to me also; That someone could take the body of a 'Classic', artificially age it, then replace the blades from an old knife. It may be a good ideal to remember these patterns just in case that happens down the road.

The confusion may have come from the fact that Frank Buster is selling US Classic on ebay, alongside the Fightn Rooster line. I've heard nothing to suggest that if the knife says Fightn Rooster, it's made anywhere but in the Olbertz factory in Solingen, Germany.

the us classics i have looked at are the same as american cutlery and several other chinese made knives. same blades, same patterns, same nail marks. they are not direct copies of shelleys "rare collectable" knives. it's a marketing ploy. none of them come with any documentation of their origin. same knives, different stamps.

I knew Sterling was a dealer for Classics, but did not know he was selling them on eBay.
I have not seen or talked to Frank in several years, I just assumed he had turned the business over to him.
Parker's Show is coming up in a couple of months and I thought I would see if he had any there.

BTW: Some of the early display knives were made in Sheffield, England.

book. And give them to you. Thats how SORRY I fell.

9ball is Parkers Knife Show a good one? We have plans to attend but it is a pretty good ways from here. Is it worth driving 500 miles for? Thanks for the clarification on the Fight'n Roosters. They look like pretty neat knives. I have no problem with German knives and I would kind of like to have one of those Fight'n Roosters but I have only seen pictures of them. How do they compare to a Case XX or a Schatt & Morgan?

Ken you are too hard on yourself. We all make mistakes and I think we all learn a lot from the questions that are asked here. I too had the impression that the Fight'n Roosters were made in china.

Just my opinion but Fight'N Rooster knives are of very high quality and most knife books have them rated in that catagory.

I have owned several Fight'N Roosters and have loved everyone, if it was not for being short of funds to purchase other knives (Ahh Schatt & Morgan ) I would still have all of my Roosters and be getting some more...They bring back a distinctive quality with models not seen much in the knifeing world. If anyone is interested I have a Fight'N Rooster book I really don't need anymore that shows some incredible photos of most of the knives made by the company before 1994 I believe.

Anyhow just my opinion.

Thanks for the review sunburst. I may have to look into getting one. I like blade etch on knives and the pictures I have seen of the Fight'n Roosters have nice blade etch.

Ken, you do not have to buy me anything and there is no need to feel bad. I just wanted to make sure everyone understood about Fight'n Rooster knives.
Kinda freaked me out first thing in the morning!
I just wanted to set the record straight.
Buy yourself one, just stay away from those early celluloid's. If you are buying on eBay or web, pay attention to the bolster edges and shields to see if they are starting to turn or stain on the celluloid's only.
They make some nice jigged bones also & those sayings etched in the blade always fit the occasion.

jfarmer, From what I have seen; Knife Shows are Knife Shows, but this one is in the heart of Knife Country and it has being going on 31 years (I think). Everybody is there.
I have always found what I have being looking for and a few extra, A-Z . Plus, I only live about 30 miles from it. It is nice if you want to see the sights and visit also, be ready for traffic & speed traps. Pigeon Forge is a giant tourist spot, reminds me of a Modified Carnival or Fair.
The National Park is nice, but Humans are second class there.
The animals and plants have rights and the Rangers let you know it, always listen to a person with a firearm. You will go to jail and fined big time if you interact with either one the wrong way. I have heard Federal pens are nice though and they take credit cards now. Just in case you kill the copperhead that just bit you or throw a rock at a bear that is tearing the trunk of your car open. Or maybe your kid picks a flower for the Picnic table. No Joke
Do not let this scare you off, just be aware and know the rules.

I can not compare the knives in your list; If I have a choice, Fight'n Rooster offers more of a variety and are a good user also. I carry the one that is my Avatar now. I have most likely owned more 'Scuffl'n Chickens' than any brand over time. I guess I started foolin' with them in the late 70's or early 80's.

9ball thanks for the info. The wife and I were married in Gatlinburg almost 8 years ago. We really liked it over there and we took the scenic drive from Gatlinburg to Cherokee, NC. It took us nearly all day to take that scenic drive. I guess it is a good thing I didn't get caught swipeing a few rocks to bring home to put in the flower beds. Anyway, we do have other plans over there besides the knife show. I won't be bringing back any rocks though
