C'Mon, the long short and the tall. Lets see them all. My dog Bailey brought out her pet goose saying she would like it in the photo. If anyone can ID the swivel holster I would appreciate knowing for sure. I thinks it is for the 1917 colt or the Victory 38 S & W. If anyone needs a cool picture for an avatar they can use the unusual use of knife photo.

Get me some better pics of that holster and I'll figger it out for ya. I'm thinkin it was for those big frame S&W's that were chambered for for the .455 Webley or it might even be for a .455 Webley-Fosberry.

Those old big frame S&W's used half moon clips that allowed them to run on 45ACP ammo.

There should be an arsenal cartouche on the back side of the holster somewhere. ( if it hasn't been obliterated by age and use that is)

I picked up one of these ESSE babies from "knives ship free" a couple of weeks ago.

Nice iron Mitch, Wullie think smaller this is a 38(Lemon Squeezer) s&w safety(1903,1904)with 4 inch bbl. fits tight will accomodate a 5 inch.A
lot of the contract holsters were not marked.

I found a virtually unused Tramontina Brazil 14" machete about a year back. It stays in my state work truck. It is very stout and has held up nicely chopping junk trees and stuff. It's a bit small for serious machete work, but comes in handy every now and then. Most of the time it does duty as a hat rack for my hard hat. I've got one of those pickup seat organizer things and the little machete fits in the pocket that was made for holding a big flashlight. Works great for a hat rack too. LOL

I've also got an old Legitimus Collins machete that I've had for thirty years or so. It has held up well over the years and has cut some serious brush in its' past.

Moss, It is smaller than I thought. Let me dig through my Bannerman's Catalogue and see if I can get a hit. That hanger certainly looks GI. Give me a couple of days to pilfer that old book and I'll get back with ya'

It appears to a be a commercial holster for the M1909 Colt pistol with the M1912 style swivel. Probably WWI. Found that info at

This is my first post on this forum. I am a BIG fan of Tramontina machetes. I also have an 18" w/sheath and my son has a 14" that I gave him.

I've had it about 5 years now. US made in Gladstone,MI. I'm not sure who's making what where with that name these days.

These are about as big as I've got, short of a machete or bolo knife. Recently picked up the Western at a swap meet.

Here's a knife from Thailand with an eleven inch blade and a nasty pointed pommel shown with a bolo knife dad brought home from the Phillipines after WWII. I can remember him using it to split kindling back in the '50's and it has many miles on it now. It has a thirteen and a half inch blade. Check out the width of the spine on these knives!

A Big thanks for your photo's, they are all great. This is not a true big'un but I have wanted one for a long time and found it without the sheath for a reasonable price so now I have one. Still looking for a BMF to go with it. A very nice AAPKer sold me a Gerber Bowie a while ago and it was light fingered while at a market some time back so I need another of those if anyone has one they are tired of..

Here's a few from my collection:
First one is marked,"Bixby's Jet Oil Shoe Polish";very thin blade sharpened on one side with teeth on the other.Not sure of it's intended use.
Second is various types of hand made and production daggers.
Third is various knives inclusding a huge Joseph Elliott butcher knife and a hand made with a boot pommel.
Fourth is a Rigid Bowie,a couple of G96 fixed blades,and a couple German bowies.
Fifth is a Case and a Western and a couple miscellaneous German knives.
Sixth and seventh are miscellaneous large knives of handmade,Chinese,and Filipino ancestry.
Eighth is a Hubertus dagger.
Ninth and tenth are two views of an Indian knife made from a butcher knife with a bone for a handle filled with lead.My cousin got it along with a bunch of Indian artifacts and I got it when he passed away.

Hello Big'uns fans:
Need some help with one that came in a box that was loaded with pretty nice knives including the two Western Sharks seen elsewhere on AAPK, A local Custom that is a spendy devil and several of normal run of the mill POS's.The blade 8 13/16" Oal is 13 5/16". From the weight distribution and heft I think the handle may be solid brass. Has somewhat the look of a F.Nichols blade and handle, There is no ID on it at all. What say anyone that cares to venture a thought. All things considered it seems to be a pretty well made knife.

thick spacer's but the guard doesn't look to sturdy...neat pommel , I wonder how it's attached...pinned ? I'm going to guess Latin
America...maybe Mexico...

Gunstock Jack, that's second time I've seen that Cood Steel Trailmaster of yours. I liked it the first time I saw it. I'll have one some day.
I've looked at other big/similar knives and the design of that Trailmaster rised above the others, in my view.
5/16" spine says a lot for me.

Thanks for asking, I initially thought it to be one piece. The stacks of brass and whatever the other material is are so tight they look to be one piece but no they are stacked cause seeing no rivets or any other method I just grabbed hold and unscrewed that sucker, it is tapped for either a 3/8 16 or something really close, I was thoughtful of the guard also but after closer scrutiny it is 1/8" brass stock with the stack closest to the guard being either soldered or some other method of attachment which makes the guard with no give at all. If it is from The far southern US it is the best example I have seen. I have a couple of oaxaca knives that do not begin to compare. Don't know though and that was reason for my post.
