All About Pocket Knives

I've noticed that SMKW has an Eye Brand Slimline Trapper with an old blade etch.

Their description is that it was made of parts dating back to the 1960s or earlier.
I find that a little hard to believe, especially since the Knife World article about Carl Schlieper Cutlery from 1990 ( I forget the author's name right now), said that he was surprised that they kept so few leftover parts.
Sounds a little fishy to me.
Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

they are re-using the old blade etch I think. Eyes of that vintage never (to my knowledge) had strikers pulls, only the newer knives have striker pulls. Compare the manufacture characteristics with that of new manufactured eyes and you'll see they are very similar. The only knives i'm aware of that were assembled in modern times from old parts were those from the 90's with plain round shields (there are some exceptions but most have plain round shields) these were mostly folding hunter, 5.5" moose and 5.5" trapper patterns. all patterns that have been discontinued from production.

There were also some 5.5" moose patterns assembled with abalone handles, almost never one solid piece usually chips and pieces spliced together. I have a magazine from the 90's that has an article on these large moose knives that were built from old parts in limited numbers. I'll try to find it if you're interested in seeing it.

I'm interested in any info about Eye knives that I can get my hands on.
Don't go to too much trouble though, I can never seem to find anything I'm looking for at my house.
