I found a case single blade made in the 80s it a med size knives with a leather case

If you are unable to post pictures maybe you can describe the knife a little better.

For instance, Is your knife a fixed blade or folder?

What are the markings on the tang stamp?

What pattern is the knife?

It a folding hunter with Case xx with the lighting bolts on it single blade the number on the tang Is p1051 1/2 and it has ssp on it

"P1051 1/2 L SSP; with glazed finish stainless steel clip blade and smooth brown Pakkawood handles."

The 51 pattern is known as a Sharks Tooth and was introduced in 1975. The P1051 1/2 L SSP version was introduced in in 1981.

If you want to learn about these standard Case patterns, Steve's book is a great place to start.

That's it. i looked the sharks tooth in jim sargents book and it looks just like it. Does anybody think it worth 56$ it does look brand new

It should look like this one; not considered a folding hunter.

Looking at the book a little more closely, I have mis-stated. The Shark Tooth was a P197 L SSP, introduced in 1975. The 051 pattern was introduced in 1976. The 97 had a closed length of 5 inches and the 051 had a closed length of 3 3/4 inches. Both were single blade lockbacks. The price listed in Steve's book for the P1051 1/2 L SSP is $35 for any year. You might try researching recent EBay sales to get an idea as to the current going price.
