All About Pocket Knives

Hi, I have a number of questions re this knife but will focus on the handle for now. The handle is a very nice burnt reddish stag. The fit at the back end is excellent. However the stag gets thicker towards the bolster and, while it fits well to the top and bottom of the frame, there seems no attempt to fit it to the level of the bolster at the end. I thought maybe the bolsters were replaced at some point with smaller ones but that does not seem likely. The stag is cut off very neat and square especially at the top. If the bolsters are different there would be some indication of bevelling to fit the scale to the previous ones. I guess there are two possibilities. It was made that way which, which seems odd, or the handles were replaced at some point. If the latter I am not sure why someone would go to the trouble to fit it so well all around except in one place. Sorry for the long post. What do you think? s-k

Well you didn't tell us about the knive's manufacturer etc. so I will go with what I see. "don't like it" Unless this is a custom or something made in the last few years I would say that it is faulty. Old companies of reputation wouldn't let such a piece go out in that condtion. Just my opinon though. Couple of other things look questionable to me too. Give me more info

Sorry about that everyone:oops: It claims from the stamp to be George Wolstenhlom. It has a brass end cap which is not unusual for a pruning type knife but nothing else is brass i.e., pins or liners. It has a funky pin through the bolster which is another concern as I haven't really seen this before. It does have very good snap open, closed and half stops if that is worth anything. s-k

It looks like a steel pin in the bolster. The whole package looks like a poor attempt to make the knife look older...or maybe someone was refurbishing it to use, and just quit before they finished.
