All About Pocket Knives

Does anyone have an opinion on the new Benchmade Imperial. Looks like a neat little auto but is it woth the price?

Benchmade 3150 Imperial – The perfect small gentlemen's automatic, designed by Matt Lerch, is a push button knife with integrated safety. 1.98" blade of S30V. Closed, this knife is 3.06" and open it's 5.03". Price $160.

I would not pay the price for this knife, just my opinion.

I can see how the precision and difficulty in machining a reliable (military/LE grade) SA auto can increase the cost. There aren't many small auto's out there. Most everything is a 3"+ blade anymore. The scarcity of competition allows for a higher cost as well.

While I would like to see Titanium more than aluminum, I think that would easily double the cost, and at that point you may as well spend a bit more and get something like a Mid-tech product (Microtech, for example). That's actually pretty on-par with the rest of the pricing for Benchmade's black line of products. Dunno, Auto's just seem like to much of a hassle to me. My granddad always said the more parts you have the more can go wrong. I'll take a well built framelock over anything with springs and buttons when the SHTF.
