What's the history behind Winterbottom ??

What is the history behind the material Winterbottom used for scales/handles??? I have never figued out where the name originated..??

I have included the only two types that I know of in regular bone winterbottom & Red winterbottom...

Anybody have the answer..?

Fabulous information my friend, that is perfect...I truly love the historical side of knife collecting and it's longevity...

I could not have gotten better information from anywhere unless Mr. Winterbottom told me himself... ::tu:: :mrgreen: ::tu::
