I am very happy with this recent purchase of cutlery history. While it may not win any beauty contests, it is very solid with great snap and half stops. It shows some wear, but it was used and respected by someone, not used and abused.

I love old knives like this, and am quite happy to add it to my "wood pile".

Bareheaded Jack knives have really been growing on me, and that one checks off all the boxes! Truly a beautiful knife!

Aside from the fact that this is a Hatch, I find it very difficult to pass up a decent Ebony jack with a spearpoint blade.

These Hatch tang stamps, posted earlier, have a very pleasing look. They appear to me more finished, more detailed, than most found on quality vintage knives.

Those are classy stamps for sure stumpstalker. Hatch made some nice knives. I don't think I have ever came across one.

I just received this in the 2023 POS exchange. Tang stamp is "The Hatch Cutlery Co. Bridgeport, CT". It is a 2 blade 3 and 3/4 inch jack with ebony scales. When I first got it I thought I would take it apart and see if I could put a different blade in to replace the worn down pen. But after giving it some thought, NAH just going to leave it as is. Neat old (1885-1889) knife. Thanks Kolvir!
