All About Pocket Knives

I have a new in box, Vietnam Veterans Commemorative knife from UNITED Boker. It has a green bone handle with "5911" etched on the blade along with 11 Unit insignias on one blade and a Huey helicopter on the other blade. Also on this blade is the saying in RED: "We served our time in Hell" . I cannot find this knife anywhere on the internet.

Look something like this? Don't know the details of the contract, but I THINK these were made by Boker in Solingen Germany. Boker and United had some sort of deal where United used the Boker name. This limited edition would have been made some time between 1984-1992 or so. Not sure just how "limited" they were. I've seen this particular one sell somewhere in the $35-$75 range depending on who wants it.

I do I guess I should post a picture or two in here.

Infantry? "Dog Face"

General military terminology

doggie = Army
Jarhead = Marine
squid = Navy
zoomie = Air Force

Infantry = grunt, snuffy, mud Marine
Artillary = cannon cocker
Air Wing = wing wiper

Navy has a ton of names depending on the rating.
deck ape = Boatswain's Mate
sparky = anything electrical
sewer pipe sailor = submarine
black shoe sailor = Fleet Navy
pecker checker = Corpsman
etc, etc

There are others but those are the most common.

Wow, that's a lot of military jargon I would have never thought of.

I stopped thinking military the second I got out.

And thank God for all the MOS's who support 'em. Cooks that feed 'em. Supply that keeps 'em in C-Rats (oops, it's MRE's these days) when they're not where the cooks can feed 'em, plus bullets, grenades, 782 gear, tents, blankets, etc, etc. Office pogues that keep their records straight, make sure they get paid and their orders come through when it's time to DEROS. Arty when the s... gets hot and the pop-guns just won't do the whole job. Those arrogant fly-boys who give such good close air support when Arty can't find you or is too far away. The Corpsmen (sorry, Medics) who keep you suckin' air until the Rotor-heads can drop in through all that flying lead and pull your ass out when you take one for Uncle Sam.

I love the grunts. There just can't be a decent war without the 0311s and the 11Bs humpin' through Indian country with their sphincters held tight. God bless each and every one of 'em but don't get too cocky. Without all the stuff that goes boom and all those REMFs, ya'll would be out of business in a New York minute. Can I get an Amen?

P.S. Don't forget the Navy and Air Force. How do you think you got there? Teleportation?

The original production of this knife was 2500. I don't know of any further productions. I have #2303 of 2500.

The Navy outfit I was in specialized in delivery. Air-to-mud delivery of things that went BOOM! My job was to make sure said items performed as advertised.
