#CLOSED Johnnie Fain Auction-WATER-VILLE CO. Quill knife
Posted: Thu Mar 18, 2010 2:17 pm
On March 19, 2009 AAPK lost one of our dearest members, Moderator Johnnie Fain.
It has been almost one year since his passing.
I am helping Johnnie’s widow, Annettee to sell some of Johnnie’s knife collection so that she can pay expenses associated with Johnnie’s passing.
AAPK members have been most generous in helping Annettee by bidding liberally in previous auctions. Any member of AAPK can bid on these knives.
This auction is for a WATER-VILLE CO. Quill knife
MAKER: WATER-VILLE CO
PATTERN: Quill knife
BLADE: Pen blade
CLOSED LENGTH: 3 inches
HANDLES: Bone
FRONT TANG STAMP: WATER-/VILLE CO
CONDITION: Very Good
DAMAGE: Crack at front rocker pin & rear pin on pile side.
AGE: Circa 1890-1913
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA
BLADE WEAR: 5% to 7% estimated blade loss
SNAP: Very good for a small knife. It even snaps at half-stop.
ADDITIONAL INFO: Water-Ville Co was the successor to Waterville Manufacturing Co. which was founded in 1844. This is a neat little knife in surprisingly good condition for being 100 year old. Very little blade loss for such an old knife.
This auction will end at 12 Noon, Pacific Daylight Time, Wednesday March 24th 2010 if there have been no bids within 1 hours of that time. If there have been bids, the auction will continue until such time as there are no bids for 1 hour.
At that time the high bidder will be declared the winner.
Payment is to be by money order. Upon receipt of payment the knife will be shipped.
The payment price will be the winning bid plus $8.00 for shipping via Priority Mail with insurance and delivery confirmation.
The knife will be well packaged to prevent damage.
Feel free to PM or email me with any questions.
Thank you and happy bidding,
Dale
NOTE: I will combine shipping for those who win more than one item.
