GEC #53 Stockman in Snakewood - my second GEC

Got my second GEC today, a #53 stockman in Snakewood - she sure is purty! This one's a GEC tangstamped model with 440C blades and the acorn shield. Just like my first GEC, a Tidioute #53 stockman in Mexican Bocote, this one is super! Snaps both open and closed with authority without being a nailbreaker, and fit and finish are just about perfect. Interestingly, when I was rummaging around in the tube I found the "Certificate of Authenticity" and noticed that the knife was made on Feb. 14, 2008. Well what do you know, that's my birthday! This knife was made for me on my birthday and has been just waiting around for me to find it - no wonder I like it so much.

The blade etch (which is very light) and the certificate say that this is 1 of 50, but the production totals page at the GEC website says only 33 were made in snakewood in 2008. This one is serial number 8.

So there you have it, my second GEC (and as much as I'm liking these, definitely not my last).

Thanks Mike!

I guess you could call me a prodigy, huh?

My next one's headed up here from your neck of the woods and should be here tomorrow - one of your exclusive buffalo horn Northfield Moose. (Mooses? Meese?) A fellow could get hooked on these GECs if he ain't careful...

Nice knife - I had one two years ago but the economy required it be sold.

Do you know if that main blade is the same thickness as the one on their Muskrat?

Jeffrey, you must be searching the fire out of these old post as I see you commenting on some of them that haven't been discussed for a year or more.

Since I'm starting a collection of GEC's Ive been researching as much as possible. I only have two GEC knives now, because I just got out of college. Next week I'm planning on heading to the factory!
