My First Fixed Blade

I have been wanting a Bowie Style knife for awhile now. This one has I*XL on the tang and G. Wostenholm & Son, Washington Works, Sheffield England stamped on the blade. I gently removed a little rust but didn't want to disturb the patina. There was lots of guck in the groves and a couple of spots of paint or something on the handles so I cleaned them. There are some issues, the brass guard is a little bent and the edge quite ragged but I think I did OK. There are lots of modern reproductions of old Bowie styles and Wostenholm in particular. I did my research and tried to 'read' the knife like I have learned from those much more knowledgable here on the site. I think this is a genuine late 1800s hunting kinife. If not, please break it to me gently.

I seen/read something about their Bowie's this past week. If I run across it again, I will let you know for sure.

Thanks for the comments everyone. It is Bowie-shaped but much smaller. The blade is 6 inches and the handle about 4.5 inches. 9-ball please let me know if you find anything for me to read.

Hi Mossdancer,
Very nice knife. Disregard my previous message re Celebrated Cast Steel for Ccs. They used that phrase but doesn't seem to apply in the context of that mark. It was F. (Frederick) Ward & Company but that is usually Co. so I don't know what Ccs is
Anyway, have you made any further progress in narrowing down the date?
