All About Pocket Knives

Got my #64 Canoe in amber jigged bone in the mail today so I ripped open the box and yanked 'er out to get a good look - man what a nice knife! But then something caught my eye... ...the shield is upside-down!
The first thing that came to mind (after I checked my #9 stockman and #49 cattle king to make sure it was not actually supposed to be that way) was that somebody had tipped my canoe over!

Anyway, its a really nice knife and even came usably sharp out of the box. Fit and finish is about as close to perfect as I could ever want from a factory knife and the single backspring design makes it even thinner overall. I really like this little guy and the flipped shield just adds a unique touch.

I have one Hen & Rooster knife with an upside down shield.

I don't know how common it is.

I've seen a few Case knives with pinned on upside down shields and I can't count the number of Case knives with glue on shields that were upside down that I've seen. I've also seen quite a few Boker Tree Brand knives with their shields turned in every direction imaginable.

RandomChance GR8 knife and you just have to love that handle.

If that knife were mine I would try a hot air blow dryer on the shield and with a large pin try to pop it out. Then with out burnning your fingers put her back in the right way. If the shield comes lose then use super glue after it cools off.

weirdly enough, my acsb canoe has an upside-down shield, too.
i guess the shield-putter-onner fell asleep on canoe day.
