A nice example of an unmarked utility.

I think this may be a six inch military utility from the shape of blade. The blade is a full six inches long. It appears to have resided in this sheath since issue. The brass pommel has threads inside where something is missing. A well made knife, from the photo's it doesn't show but it is hollow ground.
The sheath is lined with wood at least at the throat. Any ideas as to what's missing and who made it?

Whoever made it was not a professional knife maker. It is fairly crude, but still usefull.
My guess is probably a compass went in the pommel.

Just an amateur's opinion but for me, it has all the earmarks of being a homemade piece. It looks like the maker filled the gap between the handle and pommel cap with solder or some such. I don't think anything screwed into the pommel cap. The threads don't come all the way out. It could very well be a piece of modified plumbing.
