Howdy from the Bluegrass

Well I've been lurking around here for a few days and I thought it about time I introduce myself a little bit. I'm 30 and married with two kids, a boy and a girl. I pretty much have always liked knives but I never really seriously collected. Just picked up everyone I found in a field or on the sidewalk and stuck em in a drawer. My grandpa in-law just passed away a bit ago and he was a real collector most of his life. He had probably a thousand different knives and his ole lady is gearing up to sell some of them to pay the bills. I volunteered to help out and ended up buying a few hundred off of her and then found my way here. I've been learning as quick as I can and this site has been a topnotch source of info and awesome pictures. For the last 20 years or so grandpa in-law was getting pretty bad off and no one really took care of, or even kept up with most of his knives so a lot of the ones I have are rusty or scratched or just flat out broken. I do have some perty ones too though! I hope to eventually take some of the worse off ones and maybe some of the cheapo's and try out some custom work. I've been looking at the file work and the tutorials on making handles and it looks like a lot of fun.
