I have been looking for a 628Y as well.
I don't think they were made for very long.
They appear in the 1996 Catalog and listed as "NEW" that year.

So far we do not have a 1997 or 1998 catalog, however we do have a 1998 price list.
The 628Y does not appear on the 1998 price list.
Apparently between the time of the printing of the 1996 catalog & the 1998 price list the 628Y was dropped from Camillus product line.
Since I cannot find it listed any in any of the later catalogs or price lists, I can only assume that It was never returned to production, except perhaps as a SFO.

Therefore the maximum that the 628Y could have been made was 2 years, 1996 & 1997. It is purely speculation that it was made in 1997 because to date we do not have a catalog or price list to confirm it's production.
This means that the 628Y was probably made in low numbers and will be difficult to locate.

I realize this does not help you locate the knife, but it may explain why you are having difficulty finding one.

Thanks Dale.. I found them listed in a 1987 catalog also.. My son bought one at SMKW around 97-98 when we stopped there on vacation.. Sure would like to find one as they are a great little rabbit knife and my son keeps razzing me that he has one and I dont! The search goes on.. John
