Junebug, $15.00 comes across as rather steep to me, but I don't know. Collecting scissors is a new sideline to me. I only currently have 5 pair at the moment and I've never paid more than a $1.00 or $2.00 for them (Boker and Case XX). I pick them up at estate sales. The people putting on the sales never seem to look at the stampings on the scissors. I guess I've just been lucky. That pair you passed on, you said had a pinky rest. Were they hair clipping shears? I have a friend who has Winchester hair clipping shears. Haven't been able to talk him out of them yet. Bull ($25.00 for a eight piece steak knife set isn't a bad price. Are they Boker or Case?)

Junebug, Priced out a new 4pc set of Boker steak knives,$33.95. So $25.00 for 8 pc. would be a good buy. Especially if a vintage set!

Speaking of scissors...
My only pair. These have the hammered or cast finish Josh mentioned. I think I paid $5 for these. 1928-1930 vintage (?)

Sorry that I can't get you better pics. My camera is a dinosaur and is limited to what it will do; Starting left to right, Boker 6 1/2 inch Tree Brand; Boker USA 7 inch; Case XX 1920-1940 era 6 inch; W.R.Case Bradford 7inch; Bottom pair Pearl Duck Dubl-Duck Soligen, Germany grooming shears, carbon steel. It's a small collection, but I'll keep adding to it should the right pair come along.

Bull,
Nice old scissors
A few years ago I seen a large factory display board in an antique shop for sale. It had every scissors you could imagine on it. I think it was from Weiss. The dealer wanted $1200 for it!

My fledgling collection of scissors grew again this weekend with the addition of a pair of 6 inch "Kissing Crane". Did some researching around and found another pair on the net dating from the "40's". My pair were manufactured by Metropolitan Cutlery Co.. I don't know if there is any connection with the current Kissing Crane knives being sold today, but the crane stamp is identical. My collection so far has represntation of Case XX, Boker, Western States, Met. Cut. Co. "Kissing Crane", and Dubl-Duk.

Has been awhile since I have been on this thread and have recently added these two to my collection; the first pair are a Cattaraugus Cutlery Co., 7 1/2 inch; The second pair are a nice conditioned 6 inch, Keen Kutter.
