Bulldog knifes and me

I am thinking that its the company and not me or I not under stand again.
I got my first Bulldog knife on E Bay (110018351139) from a son selling his dads collection. Thinking that collectors keep their knives in good shape RIGHT.
When I received the knife it looked like the scales may have shrunk because they were not even touching the bolsters. Then I went to a knife site and bought $750.00 worth of Bulldogs all but one PROTYPES. Now that I received them. They too all have spaces between the bolster and the scale or handles. The space is so big that I can place a knife blade in between (like about 1/64 of an inch). I can even see the brass liner in between the bolster and the scale. On each end and each side too. I know it’s not me because 11 out of 11 knives all the same with the spaces. Are they made that way and in time will enlarge? But if they do them I think the scales will crack at the scale pins. I see so many SUPER Bulldogs here.
What am I doing wrong or do I just not know some thing?
