All About Pocket Knives

The "C" looks to be a little funny on these tang stamps. The dealer seems to have a lot of them stamped in this way. Is it real or counterfeit?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess those tang stamps are associated with the same fleabay seller that inspired the following threads. Why? Bwcause I've spent the last couple (maybe 3) weeks studying the tang stamps coming from that town in TN. Those pictures look too familiar after the ones I've been studying.

Yep, that's the guy. Goes by RHStranger or some such. He must have sold hundreds of these things.

I can't believe the prices he is getting on these fantasy knives. Look at this one, http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-RARE-CASE-T ... 1e5a419963 , it is up to $485 with an hour left. Many of these bidders aren't new, the have high numbers.

What am I missing? Who would pay so much for these knives?

It seems the seller " might have had " a little help in pushing the price up. The winner, whom I am sure is oblivious to such a knife being bogus was probably watching the other two main bidders up the price. Bidder 1 had 85 % activity with the seller and Bidder 2 is at 25 % activity with the seller. Something smells a little fishy ........ shame we have no way of contacting the buyer to make him/her aware that the knife purchased is worth ....well nothing.

More money than brains? Well, I guess I shouldn't say that. I've been fooled myself, like most folks, in this age of mass communication and fast bucks. It probably wasn't as prevailent(sp?) before the internet.

It seems to me that this is nothing less than fraud. Couldn't this seller be prosecuted? If not, then I think there 'otta be a law'. I guess it just reinforces the old adage; "Let the buyer beware!". That auction business is definitely a shark pool.

Definitely a shame for anyone to fool the buying public, especially when it pertains to a hobby I love, collecting knives. I sell a few Case Classics from time to time on Ebay and I always offer a good description along with several clear photos of the knives I sell, I also offer a 100 % satisfaction guarantee, just send the knife back within 7 days and I will refund the money, but in this day and age it makes the " general buying public and novice knife collectors" wary of all sellers. I recently had a potential buyer offer me 40 % of fair market value on 3 knives only because he was sold less than quality knives by another on Ebay.

I do believe Ebay now has a policy in effect that allows buyers to return an item whether the seller specifies No Returns or not ..... not 100 % sure of this, someone can enlighten me on the subject.

Unfortunately, there are many naive buyers who at some point are going to be enlightened to the fact that what they have is a collection of worthless junk.

I agree with Gunstock, there '"otta be a law" to take care of these scumbags.

Some of these guys amaze me; a lot of people don't mind driving a long distance; to get justice. The buyer has the sellers address; I would not want someone knocking on my door. Wanting their money back or else.

If you have a $10 bill, and decide you want to customize it to look like a $100 bill, you would go to jail when caught. Why is it that a person can butcher a knife, trying to make it appear to be an older or unusual knife and get by with? There needs to be a "BAD list" of sellers posted on here so potential buyers can make sure there potential sellers are legit.

? couldnt a person foward that to ebay and let them see he basicly admitted hes doing this ??
