All About Pocket Knives

This came via UPS this morning. I haven't cleaned them yet, I just had to get a couple pictures in. All are well made with Red Stag handles, the Canal Street Sheild, and have 12 on the front bolster. There will be 25 sets made and that's it. Red Stag is one of my favorites and the Canal Street knives I have seen lately have inpressed me. I can post some individual knife pictures after the weekend. They made an absolutely beautiful set. From what I hear, all Red Stag Canal Street knives must now go through Red Hill Cutlery because of an exclusive contract. Well, I'll have to wait until Monday to do my cleaning, weekend plans.

That presentation case is pretty stout as well...

nice set darrell, i'd be very proud to carry any of those knives, but i would have to carry them all. canal street has certainly got an edge(pun intended) on their competitition. so red hill is the only source?

The guy at Red Hill told me that they had an exclusive contract for Red Stag made by Canal Street Cutlery. I think he was saying that if another vender wanted some Red Stag made by Canal Street Cutlery that they would have to pay Red Hill Cutlery a fee (royalty) before Canal Street Cutlery could use Red Stag to make knives for someone else. Red Hill could also deny anyone or have to order it through Red Hill Cutlery. They may have the same deal with Giraffe Bone and (OH-OH) SANDBAR STAG. Honest I just looked it up to be sure of my facts.

You know I have always wondered what exactly sandbar stag was...Hukk, I for one would really appreciate you explaining that for me....Is it from the same region as the Red stag????

Very nice knife set my knifer friend, really think those handles show loads of character for sure !

Red Stag is very unusual in the knife hobby, to my knowledge, only three styles of this handle has been offered in the hobby to collectors from Canal Street Cutlery & Schatt & Morgan in today's market to W.R. Case & Case Classics in the past! Below is a Case Classic Elephant Toenail that used to belong to a knifer friend of mine that has some of the earliest Red Stag!

Well, I will call and ask, but it may ruin a fun and popular thread, you know, the one with the most BS in it, a fun one. Course I may get a line of that from them. Maybe they will refer me to this website.

Well, I called Red Hill Cutlery and Canal Street Cutlery today and I got quite a story about our Sandbar Stag. It seems many years ago (OK I have a Finnish last name and Southern roots due to a shotgun wedding--TRUE story) a good old Southern boy just did not know how to spell Sambar Stag and spelled it Sandbar Stag. The name stuck. Yes they are the same thing--same animal. Sandbar Stag was born because a good old Southern Boy could not spell. I figure it's true, how often do you find that fact is stranger than fiction. Here it is, DIRECT from Red Hill Cutlery of Kentucky. Copied from the Sandbar Stag Thread.

EDITED: I did not get a chance to call Canal Street Cutlery and I posted a response in the Sandbar Stag thread. My apologies, but this is the opinion of ONE employee at Red Hills Cutlery. Thanks, abalone taste like abalone . Good thing I dive (not yet this year and may not). Resturants that have abalone on the menu out here buy farm raised (small) abalone. If you want to order it, need to call ahead because NOBODY keeps it on hand. Last price I heard 5 or 6 years ago was $135.00 per LB WHOLESALE! Major OOOOOUUUUCCCCHHH!
