WWII fighting knife or commando

my grandfather left me his knife and im wondering about its history/story and part played in WWII. Maybe an estamated value(not for sale). thanx for any help i can get.
What kind of knife did he leave you? What are the markings on it and then I'll be happy to research it for you. If you have the same one as me, I have all of the research ready.
