All About Pocket Knives

I have a Buck 704 USA that's NIB. I didn't pay attention to the year mark on the tang before I put it in the back of a gun cabinet. It has wood handles and a larger than average (for Buck) oval shield with Buck wrote in it. It's a nice knife for something light that would fit a pocket well. Can anyone tell me when Buck began offering these and if they still do? I'm guessing it's like most other Bucks, having 420 HC blade steel? I appreciate the help.

I know this thread has been around for a while, but I just got a like-new one of these from Gino. It's from 1992, and is definitely a cool little knife. Nice size at 3 1/4" closed.

I took it right out of the box and shaved the hair off of the back of my hand.

I don't know much about when they were made, or when discontinued, but would be interested to know.
