Who can tell me about Syracuse Knife Company folders?

The older Syracuse knives (1935-1940) were made by Camillus here in the USA. In 1975-1976 Camillus imported them from Poland. The ones from Poland should be marked accordingly.

I just picked up the old knife marked SYRACUSE KNIFE COMPANY, then under that SYRACUSE NY. I was searching around on the site here trying to research it a bit when I found this old thread started by TJ...so I thought I'd revive the thread and post it here! You can't see it on the pic, but it does indeed say SYRACUSE NY under the SYRACUSE KNIFE COMPANY on the tang.
So is the consensus that this knife was made by Camillus? even though it says "Syracuse Knife Company"? There wasn't an actual "Syracuse Knife Company" then...? If it was a seperate company, what were their years of operation?
I'm just a bit of a fiend for info on my new acquistions,...like to know what I've got!
Any further info would be much appreciated. Thanks much.

Mike, Goin's has three listings related to Syracuse. They are;

"Syracuse Cutlery Co." c.1904 who were located in Syracuse, N.Y. and specialized in razors.

Second was "Syracuse Knife Co." c. 1975-1976. A trademark used by Camillus. "Product of Poland" is stamped on the small blade of these knives.

Third was "Syracuse Knife Co." c. 1935-1940. A trademark used by Camillus.

My semi-educated best guess is your knife would be one that falls under that third listing.

I have what is almost identical knife as this except mine says "Syracuse Knife Co. USA" Mine doesn't have the metal bolsters on the tips. It measures closed, 3 1/8" and 6 1/4 inches with both blades open at each end. It has had some repair on the plastic on one variegated brown handle side.

I can't send a picture at this time, spring is good but little or no snap when closing. could be available.

I thought Camillus maybe. Goins makes mention of how much Syracuse knives resemble Camillus.

Fair amount of blade missing... someone didn’t know how to sharpen a knife.

Glad I found this post, I just bought one of these exact Syracuse 3 bladed knives! Seems to be a solid well built knife

Here are some Syracuse knives.The two most unusual are the closed back sleeveboard and the shell handled jack.The bartender's knife is a dead ringer for a Camillus knife I have.Note there are bothe arched and straight line stamps.

I've got a Syracuse Knife Company, Syracuse NY Easy Open jack, like knife7's, with a bail. Screwdriver and cap-lifter blade, it would make a decent EDC. Iron bolsters, brass liners and jigged black comp. scales.

I do not see too many Syracuse knives on AAPK and they are not on the high list of conversation.
Syracuse knives were a "Camillus" production from the 30s, and they also have Camillus quality. This little guy is 3 1/8" in length closed, with beautiful Candy Stripe celluloid handles. Off-gassing is in progress as you can see, but hopefully has many years left. It appears that the gassing is mostly occurring between the brass liners and the handles themselves.
And of course, I must segregate him from his buddies because he does not play well with others.
Both blades are four (4) liners marked: With a curved Syracuse.

James Parker's ninth edition Official Price Guide (Dated 1987) states that most of the Syracuse knives were handled in celluloid. Perhaps most have went to celluloid heaven. Not a lot to be found or even seen here on AAPK.
I have not seen a catalog of any great detail on Syracuse Knives.

I bought a pocket knife from a seller. The tracking said it was delivered today. A pocket knife WAS delivered today from that particular seller. It was the wrong pocket knife. I received this SYRACUSE KNIFE CO.,USA, 3 blade stockman instead of the pocket knife that I bought. I contacted the seller and he said that he realized his mistake and that the pocket knife that I bought has been sent. He told me to go ahead and keep this knife as well. So, the only SYRACUSE KNIFE CO. pocket knife that I own, came to me by accident. I gave it a cleaning, I took a few pictures and here it is.
