All About Pocket Knives

I was wondering if anyone could give me an approximate value on this old Case. Both blades have a tang stamp. The larger blade stamp puts it at 1919 or later and the small tang stamp puts it at pre 1920 according to the stamp guide on this site. Thank you.

I believe it to be a pattern #82028 Made in the W.R. Case and Sons Era around 1902-1903 It is called a baby teardrop 2 7/8" long. I do see it listed in Sargent's 7th edition. Valued at $600 but that would be mint condition and every book will have it listed for different $$$.

What made me give a date was that was the only pearl pre-1920 I could find but that doesn't mean that it wasn't made in a different time frame as NO book is complete.Need to see a picture of tang stamp to narrow it down.



BTW-your knife looks like a gem, nice almost full blades and great Pearl.

I can't get better pictures of the tang stamps but the small blade has the second stamp from the left in the pre 1920 section and the large blade has a stamp that looks like the second one in the 1920-1945 section with the A inside the C. The tail of the C is straight and stops at the edge of the blade. The knife actually looks better than the picture shows but there is a de-lamination in the pearl on the other side that you can barely see and just barely feel with a fingernail. The blades don't appear to have been sharpened more than a couple times. I guess I got lucky on this one. I found it on the Isle of Wight in the UK for a ridiculously good price.

Well in that Case it would date anywhere from 1920-1940.
Still valued at around $600 in Mint condition.

I think your knife would date 1920-1940, not pre 1920. $475.00. Fine knife either way.

I think BIGHEAD was right on calling it a Baby Teardrop 82028.

Maybe you could try to research the knife as being a Slimline Teardrop. By the way this only MY opinion and I have been wrong before.

I just thought it was interesting that one stamp put it in one era and another stamp put it in the other. I'd have to guess that it was probably right around the beginning of the 1920 era since it has both stamps.
