All About Pocket Knives

Here are 2 Bulldog 3 3/8 3 blade Serpentine Stockman knives from the Oktoberfest Set. Are either of these knives a first generation?
Please answer in the poll.
Bonus question: The handles are celluloid, what are the names of each celluloid.

No, there it's not Duckfeather. Here is an eBay link to a Bulldog knife with Duck Feather celluloid scales so that you can see what they look like.

Well I will state my ignorance and tell the truth, I don't have a clue

But the shield on the 2nd knife is so rare and unique it makes the knife worth owning on its own merit...

It is Horn Swirl and we know that the shields really give it away, but there is one more thing that gives it away, not only this knife but many other knives also, a good one to know. The seperate pictures are there so that this can be spotted more easily.

darrell i have stared at those pics till i just see a blur and i can't see it.

is the beer stein an etch? i can't see any reflection.

Bill's right Johnnie, don't give up. Bill missed it by about an inch or so, this is not the only knife that has this, others do also. Come back and take a fresh look, look for a difference. This one is difficult the first time, after that, it's easier.

ok the nail pull on the first gen. looks shallower or shorter. please go into detail when you give up the answers.

How about the blade profile, especially the heigth of the master... right at the choil/kick area in particular?

The beer stein is the first generation, I will say you're right when looking on the master blade.

Any discrepancy there is merely my camera angle, look a bit lower, on the master blade, compare the two. You won't really believe the answer, very simple, not at first though, once you see the difference, you will think how did I miss that. Dog post is going on, looking for mine.

OK, all this sashaying around is wearing me out...so with my last swing I say.....

The tangstamps (especially lettering) appear as though they are different sized...maybe that is the clue?

Anyway, I'm either jogging around all 4...or taking a seat.

Bottom of the ninth, 0-2, the Mighty Lobo blasts a grand slam to win the game on the size of the tang stamp. The dogs are larger and so is the lettering on the second generation, that's all.

My pleasure, here is an Oktoberfest made in the fourth generation from older parts. They never used abalone in the first generation, but you can see that they used a first generation master blade from the tang stamp.
