All About Pocket Knives

I'm Robin and new to the forum, great place. What is the latest that Camillus used their 4 line mark? Thanks

As far as I know, this was the latest 4-line tang stamp Camillus used, circa WWII.
This knife is one I customized, but it shows the tang stamp better than any other pic I have handy.

Note this stamp is sanserif. There is at least one earlier 4-line stamp with the serif.
I am not sure when they started using the sanserif 4-line stamp, but the consensus seems to be that they stopped using it around the end of WWII, c. 1946.

Thanks very much Dale. There's a beaten up old rope knife on Ebay that I kind of like. I cut a lot of leather and love straight edge blades and I do like knives with "history". The seller says the scales are jigged walnut, did Camillus do jigged walnut? I just need another beater for my workbench )). This is a great forum, thanks for the help.

The knife is a WWII life raft knife some even have a USCG stamp on the rear tang as I recall, though I think the USCG were Post-War. I will check Mike Silvey's when I get time, that should show it.
IIRC they were in the survival gear stowed on the life boats & life rafts.
You don't want to drop a pointy knife in an inflatable life raft!

The ones from WWII came with jigged wood handles, but I think they were cocobolo handles.
Sometimes hard to tell the difference between cocobolo & walnut unless you work with wood.
