Last year, in March 2009, AAPK lost a friend and Moderator Johnnie Fain (jonet147).
Johnnie passed away unexpectedly. I am helping Johnnie’s widow Annettee by auctioning off many knives and books from Johnnie’s collection. AAPK members have been most generous in helping Annettee by bidding liberally in these auctions. Any member of AAPK can bid on these knives.

This auction is for a Schatt & Morgan Harness Jack

MAKER: Schatt & Morgan
PATTERN: Harness Jack
BLADE: Spear & punch
CLOSED LENGTH: 3-3/8 inches
HANDLES: Jigged bone
FRONT TANG STAMP: S & M/TITUSVILLE/PA.
REAR TANG STAMP: QUEEN CUT. CO./TITUSVILLE, PA.
CONDITION: New in box
DAMAGE: None
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA
BLADE WEAR: None
BLADE ETCH: 1 of 75
SNAP: Very Strong
ADDITIONAL INFO: An excellent addition to any Harness Jack collection.

This auction will end at 12 Noon, Pacific Daylight Time, Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 if there have been no bids within 2 hours of that time. If there have been bids, the auction will continue until such time as there are no bids for 2 consecutive hours.
At that time the high bidder will be declared the winner.
Payment is to be by money order. Upon receipt of payment the knife will be shipped.

The payment price will be the winning bid plus $9.00 for shipping via Priority Mail with insurance and delivery confirmation.
The knife will be well packaged to prevent damage.

Feel free to PM or email me with any questions.

Thank you and happy bidding,
Dale

NOTE: I will combine shipping for those who win more than one item.

Dale,

Would you please post a photo of the box end? Also would you call the handle color "crimson" or "amber".
Thanks,

Don Franklin

I don't have the booth set up at the moment, but it says:
#69 Harness Jack/Goldenroot

However:
I want to post this disclaimer on this particular knife.
Annettee sent me about 10 empty boxes that she didn't have knives for & thought I might find the knives for them in future auctions lots or perhaps in the past auctions.
This S&M is the only one that I have matched up so far, & I am not real familiar with them, so I am not 100% sure. However it does look like Culpepper's Goldenroot bone to me.

I am attaching a scan of the knife.
Perhaps it will help. The color is usually better in the scan for some reason.

I sold that knife to Johnnie. It's one of my SFOs. It's Goldenroot, so the correct box, and was my fastest seller, hands down.
Saddlers like the thin/sharp punch. It will make the smallest holes of all the punches, but still cut a big one for your belt or for lacing.
All 1095 steel, so will sharpen well and develop a patina. If I hadn't kept one, I'd be bidding!!
