All About Pocket Knives

I'm not sure how I became interested in pocket knives, but here I am. I currently have a Schatt & Morgan Drs knife, and I'm waiting for 3 Case Tuxedos, and 6 Case Texas Toohpicks that I recently ordered.

I'm 57, am retired, and live in Chicago. I'll probably be lurking for awhile, learning what I can from the list.

Can anyone reccommend any books on the subject ?

Welcome to the forums! It looks like your collection is off to a great start . I highly recoment the following books for someone just starting out...

Bernard Levine's Levine's Guide to knives and their values
(don't get a newer editions, the older ones are much much better. I believe Edition's 1, 2, 3, and 4 are best.)
Jim Seargeant's Premium Guid to Knives and Razors
Gerald Wicher's Counterfeiting Antique Cutlery
Most of these can be found at Knife World

I hope some other members may have more to add... I need some more reading material as well.

I can use every bit of advice I can get. All my new knives arrived this week & I'm very pleased with them. The last to arrive were the knives from the AAPK store, 2 tiny toothpicks & 1-Tuxedo. I used to have some cigar boxes of knives that I accumulated over the years, I'm hoping I can find them & see what's there ! Thanks again ! I'm glad I found this forum.

Hi Paul! I too am new here. Originally from NW Indiana now living in Alabama. If you get a chance you should check around & see if you can find at least one old Chicago Cutlery pocket knife for you collection. Just an idea. There were several short lived knife makers from the southeast side of Chicago. You know where all the old factories were that they have been leveling & putting up condos & townhouses. You'll see alot of PA sabre rattleing here but a lot of good steel came out of the Windy City & go to Gary or Burns Harbor IN & thats the new American Steel capitol of the GREAT USA!~
