I believe it is black locust wood. It started out as an old dried firewood log that we cut several years ago!

The buffalo horn looks like it has been jigged to look like Impala horn. The old dried firewood log brings back memories, I used a piece of Tan Oak firewood for a project once. Made a nice gunstock.
We have a place up here that buys black walnut burls and makes custom gunstocks. (Calico Hardwoods) Twice a week they allow you to pay $40.00 and get a whole pickup load of rejected gunstock blanks. There has to be some nice pieces out there that are quite suitable for knife scales. I have to check that out, nice black walnut burl.

Buck 110 + arksknives = BEAUTIFUL!

Very nice, hate to say it but any knives without pinned on scales will eventually loose their scales. Metals and natural materials move differently with heat and humidity. One day the two shall part. Might be tomorrow, might be 25 years from tomorrow.

Those sure are beautiful. Really like the Water Buffalo Horn.

Hukk hasn't posted on years and Johnnie Fain (jonet143) passed away in 2009.
I was startled too to see Johnnie posting. LOL

I wonder whatever happened to hukk? I still have some stabilized black palm endgrain I bought from him years ago, really nice stuff to work with.

The last I heard Hukk had a lot of muscular skeletal problems, I think arthritis was one of them.
There was another health issue also that made it incredibly painful for him and nearly impossible to work on knives.

He showed up on here three years or so ago and said Howdy and that was about it. Come to think of it, he may have sent me a PM or email.
Last I heard he was still around just not playing with knives as much.
