All About Pocket Knives

I haven't seen the Queen sub-forum before, I guess it's new. Anyhow, I have to show the two I got. I bought the stag to look at and the D2 amber to use. Well the stag just begged to be carried so it's not cherry anymore. These are my first two Queens and they sold me on this maker.

Here is the mountain men I got the one is a 3L in bird's eye maple the other is a 3L from the File & Wire series It has the thumb notching (matchstrike) across the back of the blade.

Are the File and Wire series knives made in D-2??

No, they are made out ATS-34 Steel.

No D-2 for the File & Wire series, most had ATS-34 steel. Queen had problems using ATS-34 because it won't take to stamping very well & used it only the master blades on certian series.Example of this in File & Wire Tested series 1 knives all knives execpt the folding hunter were offered in ATS-34 (Hunter used 440). ATS-34 is from Hitachi in Japan and first appeared in 1999 on some Queen knives and by 2001 had reduced its use to the F&W Series and to the master blades on multi-blade pocket knives produced in the Schatt & morgan Series sets (1999,2000) only. In 2002 Queen started to use the D-2 on most of their knives execpt the File & Wire which still use ATS-34.

Thank's for the info on blade steel guys, mine are marked tool steel on the blade so I'm thinking D2...no wonder they get so sharp. These were bare frame's when I got them...
had Elk stag and Mesquite scales put on them.

A couple that I can add, A Queen Classic D-2 blade steel and what they call Red Stag. (I'm pretty sure it's carved bone) A smooth brown bone Schatt! And another Stag with 1095 steel blades. (that you can't see) Dave
