All About Pocket Knives

I've been reviewing the archives and found not a single thread devoted entirely to one of my favorite knives, the single blade lockback. Chances are, even if you don't actively collect them, you have one or two tucked away in your collection. There are an abundance of varieties, big and small by numerous makers. I think it would be nice to start a thread devoted to this great pattern of knife. If you've got em, let's see em.

I'll be posting pics of some of mine as soon as I digest this Thanksgiving feast and can drag myself to my camera.

I'll start with a Buck 110. This one is one of the newer ones.

I'll bet Philco has lots of nice old classics to post, but I'll sneak this modern day lockback in. This is a Japanese made I*XL, a big, solid knife, a good working tool. They are inexpensive and there are plenty of them around, a good place to start for the novice collector.

I just received a few new knives and some are lockbacks ; )

I have a number of lockbacks, now that I think about it. so here we go, traditional types first:

two 3OT's and a 5OT with a carbon blade (Ignore the 14ot)





two 51OTs, including my brand new micarta "worker" I just "unveiled" this morning

Rough Rider Sawcut Lockback

I'm sure for many the first thing that comes to mind when you say lockback is a Buck 110. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, the 110 has seen more flattery than any other knife. This Bear from 2008 is heavily indebted to the 110's little brother 505.

Gerbers have their own style and I think they are some of the best crafted knives for the money. A lockback thread would be incomplete without some Gerbers. Here is one of mine, one that gets plenty of use.

This is a new Kershaw I picked up Tuesday it is a 1550 Blackout with 13C26 steel. Can anyone tell me what kind of steel this is. Also I picked up this midjack oldtimer dosen't look like it's ever been used. ftd
