I enjoy looking at each site we have here at AAPK , but find that there are several pages of threads which I feel are OUTDATED and should be cleared.
There is quite a build up of old material, what can be done?

There is quite a build up of old material.

I like to do a search and it brings up OLD stuff. I like that so I do not have to ask the same question. I am short on memory now ::nod:: . That and Who knows how many new members we get here that searchs the web (that looks in our OLD files) and they end up becomming a member?

If you are talking about the colored bells on the left. You can click on the Mark forums read and then only new ones will be colored for you to read.

I hope this helps you Camillus.

When a thread is no longer posted to, it will move slowly to the bottom of the page then to the next page, and in to the archives.
If we deleted those threads we would loose any valuable information that those threads contained.
Many people find that feature most useful.

Generally the only things that are deleted are spam and comments that do not follow AAPK rules.

I think we should keep the old threads. When I bought the Johnny Fain "Johnny Muskrat" I was able to find the thread when he first talked about it and found the history of it. As soon as you throw something away, you'll want it.

I say keep the old threads. They are only pulled up when someone has use of them or interest in them. There is a lot of valuable and interesting information in those files. I personally would hate to see them go.

I don't think there is any need to fear them being deleted.
While I have not spoken to Bryan about this directly, I am confident that he realizes the longterm value of keeping the old threads for the info they contain.

I pay $25 per year for a gold membership to BladeForums primarily to have access to their archives, which are unavailable to non-paying members. The archives are that valuable IMHO.

On AAPK there is no fee and anyone can access our archives.
I think it is an excellent resource to Knife Knuts !

Just wanted to say that I agree: Keep the old stuff! :D
Lots of valuable information there and it can be fun to go treasure hunting in the archives. New members may well find a lengthy discussion about just the topic they are interested in.
