All About Pocket Knives

Hello Folks

Well......I figured since Sunburst was flooding the market with Robeson's I dug out a couple of old ones.

Mainly, I wanted to show the Globe pocket knife, to my knowledge was an Robeson brand/stamp only used a few years in the late teens, early 20's.
Feel free too add.......

I have struck out on verifying the Globe stamp, but feel pretty strongly that you are right on the money. I have someone I am going to email to ask about the Globe and am quite sure he will verify it for us, I will let you know once he emails me back.

As I mentioned earlier my info says "Robeson also made knives, under contract, for other cutlery firms. I have verified that Robeson made knives for Terrier, Continental and one that may surprise some folks, Kinfolks.

Robeson bought Kinfolks, Inc, Little Valley, N.Y., in 1958 and made knives with the Kinfolks name. Many of these knives were also handled in strawberry bone and included, at the time, uncommon patterns, such as the Liner Lock.

It seems that your three Backspring Jack (3 1/2" ?) auto knife is quite rare. The one in my book shows a spear blade, screw driver and punch. The knife was made between 1911 and 1921 and was suited for either harness or horseless carriage repair....You know that your old no count 3 blade knife would look mighty good with my other 3 bladers...

Since we are talking Old Robeson's; here is one I carry & use everyday at work....

I just had to add my favorite Robeson. The balloon jack has main clip blade and an "auto" blade with screwdriver, opener, wire stripper, and "Presto-lite" key. Both blades are tang stamped, "ROBESON/ ShurEdge (script)/ROCHESTER, N.Y. The handles are smooth black and stamped, "THE M.J. O'FALLON SUPPLY CO. / PHONE MAIN6530 DENVER, USA.

I still have not made contact to ask the question about Globe Cutlery Co. but I found this on another board and thought you might want to see it...

It is indeed a Globe Cut. Co. It was made on contract, by Robeson. Item #6616242592 on EBAY now is a nearly identical knife with Robeson tang stamps!

These knives are confirmed to be made by Robeson but marked otherwise, like Terrier, Continental, Globe, OVB, and Fulton.

I figured so, that is the only place I have seen that style of punch.

This one is stamped:

CUTLERY
ROCHESTER

on the blade only.
Looks to have said THAT GOOD OIL on the side at one time.

Maybe is was made for both car and horse, kinda like a 'Transition' knife before they were cool

BTW: What is the pool temp these days? You ever get any gators in there?

Ahhhh mid to upper 80's, I jumped in yesterday after running the weedeater around the yard, it is still the best investment we have ever made... What are the temps running in your pool at the moment??

We have never had any gators get into our pool, but since we have a screen enclosure they would have to work pretty hard. It is not uncommon to see on TV where folks get gators in their pool on a regualr basis in Florida but most of the time they are within feet of a waterway. We do get snakes, tons of frogs and every bug imagineable. We have these very large millipedes that live only in our region about 4-5" that kamakazee into our pool on a regualr basis that are kinda creepy.

I have a licensed trapper gator hunting on the farm property right now, he's got about 25 tags to fill. He will hunt off & on for a couple of weeks.
