All About Pocket Knives

My Grandad's knife shown here: Pattern #6393 Im told.

As you can see one handle has been replaced by my Dad with wood. I found a knife for parts on ebay which looks to be the same pattern. The side I need is fairly close in color to the green bone I would need for my Granddads knife. Can someone verify that they are the same pattern for me?

a second knife by the same seller looks to be the same pattern as well maybe, but the handle side I need is cracked up pretty bad and worn more although the color matches better.. That would be this one:

again... Can someone verify for me that My Granddad's knife and the first ebay link knife is the same pattern?

There hasn't been a '93 pattern Case for some time. The two large stockmen that Case made were the '92 pattern (6392) and the '75 pattern. The '75 pattern (that's the one for sale in both of the Ebay auctions), is 4 1/4" long. The '92 pattern is 4" long. You would need to measure your knife to determine which of these two it is (assuming it IS one of these two). There are some smaller Case stockmen (e.g. 6332 @ 3 5/8", 6333 @ 2 5/8")

By the way, the first auction knife appears to be a Tested era knife judging by the shield whereas the second auction knife appears to be a Case XX knife. Your knife appears to be a Case XX knife from roughly the '40's to the mid '60's.

Pattern # 93
This pattern number was used on a 3 7/8" serpentine style square end stockman knife that W.R. Case and Sons began manufacturing sometime prior to 1915. Most have clip master blades along with a spey and sheepsfoot or punch blade.

So the knife parts are too long for my knife I guess. They might be modified t ofit, but I dont want to do that so I'll wait I guess.

Your knife with the wood back handle looks to me to be a 6392. The 6393 was similar to the 6392 but had a narrower frame and much thicker backsprings.

Both of the auction knives (the first of which I won) are the 6375 pattern.

Ok, asap Ill take a new series of pics of my knife showing the backsprings a ruler included and such. This should help in a more positive ID for folks to help me with. Thx Gang!

I'll agree with Steve on this one I've handled both and a true 93 is VERY rare to find Yours appears a little beefy to me and a 92 is one of my favorites to collect
