It looks like a Swiss flag on it.

That style of can opener was popular from around WWI to the beginning of WWII.

It is actually a utility knife made in France.They range in quality from so-so to fantastic.Yours looks to be one of the less expensive types but still a good using knife.
Here are a couple that I own:first is an inexpensive model and the second is a top-of-the-line model made by Eloi Pernet.

it's a cheap knife made in Thiers (France) between 1950 and now (i have one when i was a child)- those showed above have a better quality specially Eloi

Interesting. I have a few examples of this pattern. The knife with the horn scales seems particualry well made. Do you have any information on this one. Thanks s-k

FAGET is a store (as marked, this store is located at Vernon in Normandy) - often knife stores sold knives (made by other workshop) with their own hallmark. FAGET VERNON is still existing (they have a internet store)
i read on your's (the black one) - at the bottom of the blade a "d", is-it ISSARD ?
by the way, this kind of multiblade has been made (and they are currently made) both in Thiers and Nogent/S/Seine (the other famous knife industry in France)

so this one (ISSARD) was build in Thiers
it's a old trademark (in fact the name of a knifemaker family) in Thiers

A great lead, big monk.I don't find an active web presence for Faget specifically but found one French store (http://www.coutellerie-faget.com) that has this style of knife from other manufacturers, including Thiel. It gives me a great start.
