All About Pocket Knives

I had a friend contact me today and he had a few questions about his remington. He tried to register on AAPK but could not seem to make the registration work..?? Here is his question...

Today while searching the web to try to I. D. this knife I ran across the AAPK site and for some reason I couldn't get registered there. Can you help me out with this old Remington pocket knife.

Its a hair over 3 1/4 inches closed. Other than the 2 blades having the circle with Remington inside and made in USA arond the circle there are no other stamps. The metal on the sheild and both caps on each end have a slight golden hue. I assume some brass content. Please forgive my lack of knife terminogly. I'm very much a green horn on knives.

I received it from my uncles collection after his passing. Would love to know more about it. Thanks and take care

Thats probably just tarnish on the shield and bolsters. They are nickel silver. A drop of metal polish would take off the tarnish and really shine them up. I will look at my knife later and give you a pattern number for your knife. I have several like the one pictured. I do believe the knife has been worked on. Having a punch blade it should have an acorn shield. The knife was made before 1940. We would need to see a close up of the tang stamp to get closer on the date on the manufacture. Had the knife not been used and still in mint condition it would fetch around $300 or so. The main blade looks to have been used quite a bit and is short. Its still a $40 -$50 knife. It has pyremite handles.
