Single Blade? I would call it a "swell end jack". Nice knife.

Hibbard, Spencer, & Bartlett was a large hardware wholesaler in business from 1855 to about 1960.
They did not make knives but they sure did sell knives. They had knives made under contract with their tang stamp markings. Various American knife companies made knives for them such as New York Knife Co., Ulster, Camullus, Utica, and possibly others.
I can't tell you with any certainty who made your knife but I'll take a totally uneducated WAG and say Ulster.
Whomever made it, it's a nice one. ::tu::

Hibbard Spencer and Bartlett became Tru Value hardware.
