Ok... I'll admit that I often push the limits on these things, but to me this is just crazy

So for cryin out loud can someone tell me... What constitutes an automatic knife? eBay's hypocrisy has me quite ruffled today

i too, have been a victim. i purchased a schrade paratrooper auto open with a schroud cutter on ebay. i later listed and sold the knife. before i could leave feedback they suspended my account stating i had violated their policy. i can buy an automatic on ebay anytime i want. i tracked many auto knives and the only time they were removed was AFTER the sale. ebay got their money first. and it's almost impossible to talk to a real human.

It has been explained to me by the eBay GODS that they "only target you" if someone has complained about you. You may see 100 other exact items, but they only take action against a specific vendor when a complaint has been lodged by another eBay member or other anonymous party. I call it the revenge system and have been a victim of it myself. I know this from actually talking to a human (well non-computer human sub-species) at eBay for about an hour last winter. I raised so much HELL that they actually called me. I didn't know they would do that. In a nutshell, what likely happened to you is that someone filled out the complaint form. That is the ONLY time they take action, period. Sorry to hear your bad news.

Ah... The tattle tale system... Very professional business practice I wish I could find the rat

This isn't a real big problem for me except that I had several eBay auctions close yesterday and now everyone is like "It won't let me pay you".

That makes for a real long day trying to explain what is going on to everyone. I should have my account back soon as I have taken PayPal off as a Payment option on all possible items that could be considered an automatic knife.

I do have a work around all planned out for when the dust settles.

Yes, we had a flurry of emails going back and forth, the snitch system is alive and well, but think about it: They are so large, with so many items, that they can't monitor themselves but RELY on the public to do it. I had to sell some M1 Carbine magazines and they dropped the auctions because they were 15 rounds (WWII and legal), so I listed them as 10 rounds like everyone else and they did email me and I said, "no they're 10 rounds". But if you know the codes, you know they were 15 round and vintage WWII. They also got me on a Tortoise Shell Celluloid knife. I put Celluloid in the add but they wanted MORE.
There were other M1 auctions I had that went through just fine, but should not have, I'll leave it at that. PayPal is eBay and eBay is PayPal, same horse, different color.

Bryan, sorry about your luck (and everyone else) with ebay and or pay pal, but amongst all this, I'd just like to say I'm impressed with 9ball's ability to say a thousand words with pictures. He has my kind of philosophy. ROFLOL. He should have his own advertising agency. I'll bet he could work for any major newspaper in this country. Way to go 9ball.

For any of you folks that follow eBay's stock it is at a three year low, $25 or so dollars.
They just ain't takin' care or listening to the Sellers.
It is about the bottom line to management, but when eBay/PayPal start Biting at the Mom & Pop folks.......those same people just ain't going to buy it. The one's that have, will Sell.

Plus this counterfeit thing on there is just not in cutlery field. A lot comming from China.
WalMart is trying to get into the "PayPal/Banking" business.
