All About Pocket Knives

I am trying to get some information on this knife, made by J.A. Henckles, Germany.
I have 1 and have Googled it with no results. It is in very good condition, blades are dark but complete and still snap when opened. The tin (?) scales are complete although the designs are worn but still easily readable.

I am interested in finding some kind of value and will add illustrations in the future if requested.

We are a congenial group and we are just wild about photos. It is almost impossible to respond to you without a photo of the knife. Also, try to get a closeup of the tang stamp. If your camera will not do that give us a good description of the tang stamp.

I have also come across a couple of other interesting pocket knifes:

Wallkill River Works, 2 blade, black scales

Platts Bros Andover NY, stockman

N. Shure Co, odd 2 blade with the main blade locking, looks like the scales are a split foot off of an animal with hair and hoof attached and a hunting scene on the bolster

Imperial Prov RI 2 blade, tin? scales

If it's a small, aluminum handled, sleeveboard multi-blade with embossing on the handles memorializing Christopher Columbus, the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the Americas in 1892, and The Columbian World Exposition of 1893 (which occurred a year late due to mismanagement), then, No, I don't know anything about it.

Seriously, if that describes your knife, then I have seen two. One belongs to a friend in Springfield, MO, the other I saw on Ebay a year or two ago.

As you state is the case with your knife, both the ones I know about are also Henkles knives.

Personally, I love the little knives, and as far as I know, I still have first dibs on the one in Missouri if it's ever for sale.

I have no idea how many were made, nor what their value might be. I will say that I'm prepared to give $200.00 for the one in Missouri, but it's in really decent condition.

Pictures of the World Fair Knife

Nice knife, but not the one to which I referred. The ones I've seen were small sleeveboard multi-blades with four or five blades, maybe even six. I cannot remember, exactly. I think there was even a small glove-hook blade.

Still, they were made by Henkles, and I assume they were companion knives to ones like yours. The handles were similar, but like I said, the pattern was a small sleeveboard, so it was larger at one end than the other.
