THE END **sniff **sniff

Welp... the end is here. See below the last of the nuggetts from the Schrade mine.
Ive reverently regarded this find as a "once in a knife collectors' life event", which it probably will be.
Remember the romance of the tale. The ole man duznt even have a phone, so negotiations, communications, and deliveries have ALL been by mail. He would mail me a list. I then replied with the ones i was interested in. He then TRUSTFULLY (never met me) mailed me the knives without payment. If I liked them, I forwarded the money, then the gut wrenchingly slooow process of the next letters began. These lil darlins (27 in all) have been snuggled away in a few kniferolls safely in a lil Tennessee bank somewhere FOR DECADES. Each and every one, the quality you see below. Ive kept every letter he wrote me (in his shakey ole man writing) to preserve with the knives. Hope you guys have enjoyed this ride as much as i did... enjoy ALL ! ! ! !

regards dave

absolute beauties.

i wanted to say that keeping the letters and everything
is exactly one of the things i do when i collect.

ebay pieces i will jsut log. date/price/ebayer
if transaction was bad in anyway ill log that as well.

any trades and gift knives and so forth i will keep the
letter with.even if just a business card sent ill keep it with the knife.

also if im buying from a large popular collection i will request
something so i can show the knife came from that collection.

i beleive this to be an excellent way of continuing to
keep track of the knives history.

once again great knives B!

Very VERY nice!

If I had the opportunity (much less the means) of doing such a thing my life would be better.

Glad you were able!

Man Mr. B., once in a lifetime just about sums it up alright! ::tu:: ::tu::

That last one, looks like an 804, is a real oddity. It's got an etch I've never seen on any other Schrade Walden, and odd bone as well, more along the lines of old Camillus or Imperial bone. I wonder if it was a contract knife from either of those companies? I know it's legit since I believe Charlie C. has one just like it. A rare one for sure.

Blister,

Thanks for sharing your wonderful "Schrade mine knives" ::tu::

Don't be like that ole miner and tuck them things away in some dark spot

Display them with pride and post photos of them occasionally, so we can all enjoy them as much as you do. Otherwise some of us would never get to see such GREAT examples of Schrade Cutlery History ::nod::

::tu:: I know I have already posted once on this story, but I have to say this. Stories like this is what makes AAPK. I hope it encourages others to tell their stories of collecting. I really enjoyed reading it. ::ds::
