Please share your thoughts on these knives...

Ok,

I have narrowed my choice down to these two beauty's and would appreciate your opinion on which one catches your eye the most. I am leaning toward the single blade stag trapper but the pearl two bladed folder is incredible as well and probably the better buy for $100 more.

Thanks,

Sunburst

Well you know I have a thing for stag so the choice is quite simple for me, especially with the beautiful deeply figured dark toasted stag handles on that little trapper.

Of course pearl is nice too, and so is damascus, and that scrollwork on the bolsters of that folder is remarkable, and all put together it does make quite a stunning package so it would be hard to pass on the pearl.

Maybe it's not quite as simple as I first thought. Hummmmmmmm..............stag.... ::shrug:: ....pearl........ ..................................................................pearl........... ::shrug:: ..stag................... ::shrug:: ....................... ::dang:: dang this is a tough one.

Tell ya what Ralph, why don't you make it easy on all of us and just get em both?!!! ::ds::

Nothing like back to back home runs. 8)

Don't you have a double barrell? Maybe you can pull the other trigger on the pearl, because that is a great one too ::tu::

I'm thinking hard about pulling the trigger on that one and the seller said he would even work with me on the price but my funds are starting to blow dry dust....It might be time to unload a couple knives to beef up the knife fund account.... ::nod:: I think Don is going to have me committed if I keep selling my Tony Bose collection though...

I just received this knife in the mail today and Wow!!! What an incredible knife. I have had the good fortune to own a couple of custom knives over the years but the quality of this knife far exceeds the others I have owned. I would recommend knives made by Hiroaki Ohta anyday of the week. Turning the knife over the spring is almost invisible to see, it somehow blends in with the scales and bolster to give the illusion of one piece of steel. The half stop snaps to attention with power and the blade would cut to the bone like you were cutting hot butter...

Yeah, I'm happy....

Those sure are purdy knives Sunburst, though I've never owned a custom knife, unless you count a MKlien & Son knife that my Dad put a nail thru the bolsters and bent it over on each side to hold the two blades in it when I was a kid & about as tall as a ta-mater plant. Would what he did be called customized or adjustimized? Huh?... That knife don't count? Ok. Seriously the back stag handle on that trapper is about the best looking stag handle I think I could ever wish for on any knife, custom or otherwise. Congrads on hooking that one & reeling it in.

Please share your thoughts on these knives...

Sunburst I just looked at this post for the first time today.
Sorry I am not in time to influence you.
Here is my HO any way.
The blades (dots & squares) do not go with the leaf pattern on the bolsters.

MHO you did the right thing again.

Congratulations on your new Ohta. The stag on that one is especially nice, usually it is of the blackened variety which I personally do not like as much. I hear that his work is flawless and I want to pick up a trapper similar to that eventually. Can you please post some specs for the knife? How long is it closed and OAL? Thanks.
