All About Pocket Knives

Can anyone tell me about this company? I did something on Friday night I rarely do. I bought a NEW knife I enjoy watching the KNIVES LIVE show just to satisfy my knife fix for the week. I have NEVER bought anything, again because I don't buy NEW knives. So here comes this gorgeous bone sunfish with a slipknot etching on it. I fell hook line and sinker. Couldn't wait to get to the phone to order it. PICs when it arrives for sure. Any way it was a new stamping of a PA related company so I couldn't resist. I know nothing about the company. The show mentioned that this was the first of the line of knives, with others due out in about six month cycles. I suspect it is a GEC related:????? but not sure at all. Anyone help me out on this one. It feels kinda weird to be all excited about new cutlery. Gosh I hope I am not catching something.

I happened to watch the same show...and yes it does look like a GEC Sunfish though the jigged bone handle is a new color, very beautiful ...the boys also mentioned that it was be made by their friends in Pa.

I will report upon it when it arrives. I noticed that GEC's sunfish are 3" plus where this knife is advertised as 4 1/4" So maybe it isn't GEC? Don't know yet, but I thought it had the tube box sitting behind it, indicative of GEC, we shall see, but it was a big honking slip knot sunfish LOVED the etching and nice antique looking bone handles. Time will tell. I hope I am the first of the group to have one for once. I never get anything over on this bunch.

I did a Google search for Bradford Cutlery Co and all that comes up is Case.

I don't have a dish and my cable doesn't show the Smokey Mountain Show. I did get a PM from a good AAPK member when they were selling CSC Half Moon Trappers. I was lucky and they were still on the air by the time I called and I got a couple I didn't have. Now I'll get the notice when you post a photo of your knife. Good bunch here at AAPK. Pa...I hate to correct you being a great resource and authority, but the GEC Sleeveboard is 3" and GEC Sunfish is 4 1/4.......and Don if you have internet at home and I'm sure you do search Smokey Mountain Knifeworks and hit the link to their Knives Live TV show and your there.......dial up need not apply

David that is a new trademark that I believe is either owned by Smoky Mountain Knifeworks or at least is exclusive to them (with the exception MAYBE of Cumberland Knifeworks or Blueridge Knives, they seem to sometimes get part of the SMKW exclusives). They said it was made by friends in Titusville so that would be either Queen or the GEC folks. I know Queen builds some of their other "exclusives" such as Robeson. With all the tangstamps they hold now, they probably give both of the Titusville plants plenty of work and who knows, maybe Canal Street too. If not now, eventually.

I stand corrected on the length. That is why this forum is so wonderful. I beleive that it will be a GEC, but wait until you see the blade etching on this bad boy. I hope it arrives in the afternoon mail. I will post it tomorrow. Unless someone beats me to it. I wouldn't be surprised. I never get one up on you guys.

Definitely a GEC. They really go above and beyond on the contract knives; matchstriker pulls and all the bells & whistles. Smokey owns the rights, but BRK might show up with some as those two are pretty tight.

Can't believe I actually get to be the first to post a photo of this excellent knife. As I said I don't buy new knives, but this one just yelled out to me last week and I love it. No doubt GEC as the packaging suggest, well made, wonderful bone and PA related for sure. Right up my alley. I think this one will actually increase in value relatively quickly too. Limited production and high quality. The stuff great collectables are made of.

Maybe new isn't so bad after all.

Nice looking E,Toe/Sunfish. I have two of the GEC line and that one looks god enough to join the others. Somebody has them up on e-bay......$225.00 For those at least it's double the price of a standard Bone handled GEC. Hope they come down some!!

so, this is all old news to most but I just picked up a couple, 73 and 23 both with single blade. Couldn't beat the price and the jigged bone is real nice. I feel much more comfortable using and abusing these as opposed to the GEC branded versions I own. Thx for the tips and insight Mr PA Knives!

They might be, or become, more valuable than the GEC marked knives.

Resurrecting this thread to add some information.

SMKW used the Bradford Bullet Co to SFO these knives from GEC 2009-2010. As soon as Case found out they caused SMKW to cease and desist using their wholly owned brand causing a small rift between SMKW and Case which has since been repaired. These knives are very collectable especially the #23 two blade with end caps. ~100 made of each

Per the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Bradford Cutlery is an active registered trademark owned by W.R. Case & Sons.

Makes you wonder if Bradford Knives (Guardian line) is somehow in cahoots with Case?
