All About Pocket Knives

Today I have had the privelage of talking with Eugene Blankenship (AKA: Knife Doctor)
And talk about an interesting guy to talk to. I had sent a knife into Camillus for a repair, and they had to send it to him.
Very nice fellow to talk with, and seemed very down to earth. I got his contact info if you guys need a knife repair job done! He seems pretty reasonable on price, and I am confident the work will be excellent. (I have heard of his work, and have heard no complaints)
Just shows how the knife community has some very good 'ole boys out there!

Sorry folks, he is the nicest guy, that is for sure, I wasn't real impressed with his work though. I sent a number of knives to him, one of the knives was a simple buffalo horn handle replacement, and the knife came back roughed out, but not done. The other, a Brantford from 1920, I asked for a tightening, the once over, as it were. He replaced the handles (ahhhh!!) and the shield on the new handles was pinned on crooked. The quality of the handle material and the overall job of replacement was meager at best. Does he have another person working with him? No lack of communication as I wrote him a numbered, by knife letter detailing the work I would like done. This was only after we had talked and agreed he could do the repairs. Lost a bit of money on the whole deal. Should I have expected less??
Now doggone it, I hate to be the squeaky wheel here, but , well, perhaps it was a fluke, it happens. I had heard nothing but good things too, and he comes well spoken for. I must say, he is a very nice gentleman to talk to.. The work speaks for itself, everyone has a bad day. Has anyone else ever had a non-attention to detail piece(s) come back? How would you handle that considering the guy is so well known and represented?
It's the truth, I am sure there are a hundred good stories. I've had pipes leak after days of dry. Plumbing has its days too. My two cents.
