It looks like a nice knife..........however, I was led to believe it was made off shore, correct?
I couldn't understand how the SCCS was going to approve a Membership knife made off shore when that was a good part of why Schrade went out of business because they couldn't remain competative with the knives being made overseas.

I was very interested in joining the SCCS at one point, however, from what I understood was that you would get the knife (Off shore) and a news letter quarterly and that was the extent of the Society. No Website of thier own.........I had to fight to get someone to even contact me after leaving several messages. Once I did get a return call I had decided to wait and see if things got any better before I was going to join.

I am not bashing anyone or any organizations..........I'm only stating my thoughts!

Has things gotten any better?

The knives are imported. There is a long thread that spans more than a year over on the Schrade Collectors module of BladeForums website.

Regardless of where it came from, that is a handsome looking knife IMO.

I think it is a great looking knife, and I would like to have one.

Stewart Taylor has done Schrade Knife collectors a huge favor by creating the Collector's club, something that can hugely honor the history of the company and help guide it's future.

Guys- You have missed my point and I'll try to clarify it, then i'll shut up about it!

When I was trying to join the SCCS there was nothing going on.........a simple news letter (quarterly) and the Membership knife that was being produced in China.

I had a lengthy conversation with the folks in charge and they had nothing to offer other than that. I chose not to join at the time and stated that I would wait until things got rolling a little bit before I considered joining.

My question, to anyone that wishes to answer me is, has anything changed, things gotten better?

I don't think much has changed. I think it is a great idea that just hasn't gotten off the ground yet.

This is just my way of looking at what may happen.

I saw that photo of the Schrade knives in that red can with the finger in it before. Lots of history in that one. Like who has it and how did he get it. I know some about it. So in my mind will Taylor be makeing it a place to sell some of the knives he got when they cleaned out the werehouses and offices of Schrade before the auction was to come up? or just to show them off ? I am thinking that Taylor may have some very sweet old SCHRADES. He could be trying this made in USA to sell copyes of the sweet Schrades he has. A made in USA Schrade by Taylor ??? Kind a like the Queens Clasic by Queens.

I took a look at the site today and left it with the impression that Taylor Brands LLC is using Schrade history to market their current crop of 2009 Chinese made Schrade and Smith and Wesson knives. NOWHERE did I see a country of manufacture other than some PRICEY USA made Schrades that were obviously outsourced to GEC. It would be an excellent site if they got rid of the IMPORTED knives and kept only the Schrade knives of the past. No $$$ in that though.

Schrade Cutlery Collectors Society is a Taylor Brands LLC owned site and their interest is to sell imported knives carrying the Schrade name - so it seems to me. It seems like a scam to use Schrade Cutlery Collectors Society to sell Chinese made knives that are all made from the same stainless steel - I did not see a non - USA made knife in Carbon Steel - which I favor.

Rather disapointing to find that "Schrade Cutlery Collectors Society" seems to be merely a sales tool for JUNK. I'd like to see more on the history of Schrade and much less about their current catalog. So my take on this is that they are starting a society for collecting Chinese made Schrades? I'm merely guessing China, afterall Taylor Brands owns the rights to about 80 former USA and European cutlery companies.

Maybe I'm wrong - but it seems sales focused and I want to PUKE!

I just just ran across one of these while I was doing some cleaning in the basement. Knife is nice but I may not have the box. Is it valuable and or collectible? If it's not I foresee a future in my glove compartment.
