I bought an Emerson knife about 5 years ago for $40. I am not any kind of a knife collector and didn't know what I had. It has been a great knife, probably the best I've ever had. Anyway I have used and abused it and it is still sharp. I was wondering what would be a good knife to carry, because these Emerson's are just way too expensive for me to buy one to use now.
Thanks.

Hi John;
You need to give some parameters. Such as I cut ropes,whittle,open packages etc, also do you need a fast deploy, one handed etc.
A person needs to know your needs before making a suggestion as to an EDC. I have several hundred knives and ended up my carry knife is a leatherman micra. It all in what you do and need.

Mossdancer is exactly right, as different knives are suited for different purposes.
However, I'll go ahead and recommend the Spyderco Delica 4 or Endura 4, on the basis that if someone made me give up all my knives and keep only one, it would probably be one of these. I've also heard others say the same thing. Another suggestion would be the Spyderco Native with S30V blade steel. All of these run between $40 - $50 and are the most versatile knives I know of.
Good luck finding the right knife for you.
