Thanks guys!
When I seen it I almost fell over!
And to have the U.S Navy stamp on the blade is a bonus.
Here are a few pics of the backside

Re: Rope Knives
This is a great thread . Lots of beautiful knives . The first knife is the Admiralty Pattern 301 Royal Navy knife circa WWI give or take a few years. The second is the standard WWII issue Royal Navy Knife. s-k

Re: Rope Knives
A battered old knife for sure, this could just as easily have gone in the ' Relics of beauty ' thread.
It seems almost a requirement that every collector of vintage knives have a Russell barlow. I went a little off track, and added this to my collection instead. Well worn and missing it's shackle, the spine of this Russell Green River Works looks like it's been hammered through many a piece of salty rope.

If it's meant for me to have it, it'll still be there.

Re: Rope Knives
Speaking of old rope knives, there were about a dozen listed on Ebay today. Some looked pretty nice.

Re: Rope Knives
I have in my posession a knife that was given to my father when I was 4 years old, he gave it to me before he died.
it has wooden handles, 1 handle has the name stamped into it [St Louis Cordage Mills"
the opposite handle has "AMCO" "all weather rope"
at the hinge portion of blade, the words "shapleigh HWD Co, with an emblem in shape of a diamond, inside this emblem is the letters DE
the opposite side of blade has the serial #, I presume, "A109"
Is there anyone out there who can tell me about this knife?
I have 3 pretty good pic's of the knife, however this site wouldn't upload them
if so please email me,I will return your email with pic's in an attachment
Thanks
Samuel

Welcome to AAPK. Sounds like the knife is one sold thru Sharpleigh Hardware Stores under the Diamond Edge brand ( DE ) Pictures would help greatly in allowing folks here to clearly see what the knife is. Here is a link to a good free website for resizing pictures. I have used it several times to allow me to post pictures here on AAPK. Give it a whirl and see if it helps you too...............

Once again, Welcome.
