Very nice Keith thanks for sharing with us. There are so many horticulture knives that catch my eye and desires I could be happy just collecting this branch of knives... Here is one I have stashed back in the safe that I find interesting...

XL Sheffield budding knife

Here are a few Schrade "Say it with Flowers" advertisers. They came from a salesman's roll!

And here's a Farmer's knife as I've always known them. Schrade called them budding and pruning knives!

I keep finding more photos! Here's a hodge-podge of them. The Black Case XX 6245 is pretty rare I understand. knifeaholic??

Here's an odd little Robeson. This is the only one of these I've ever seen.
Anybody know why it has a manicure blade? I don't. The other side of the manicure blade has a double parallel row of what appear to be nail files along the length of the blade.

Here are my favorites, an Eye Brand budding knife and and Eye Brand double blade that I think is used in grafting.

Got the little red things all over the place. They abuse them where the wife works and I make 'em sharp again. Then they squeal after they cut themselves.

I guess a single spey blade is useful for budding or grafting, or something to do with flowers, as evidenced by this Ulster advertiser. It would be interesting to hear from someone who actually uses these knives as intended!!

Everyone has his or her preference but the single spey seems to be the easiest to work with. The most important thing is that you have a thin blade that is "very" sharp. A scalpel would work very well in this type of work but it is a little flimsy and would not hold up very long when slicing the bark. The picture I have included does not show much but it gives an idea of how this person uses his knife to prepare the grafting.

It sure is great to see all of these "Horticulture Hotties" come together on one page. I could spend a lifetime caressing each one of these with my affection... Now if you need my address to mail them to me please let me know... Especially that sweet S. Kunde & Sohn and one each of SK's & Charlies collection...
